for want of a pair of mitts...

I had a pair of "bum gloves" that I used to take with me everywhere. They were mismatched, fingerless, knit from leftovers of several skeins of computer printed sock yarn. My mom makes them by the boatload, and we just mix and match them. I only have the one pair, and during Carly's wedding, several of my favorite things went missing. My bum gloves were the most missed of those things. Today I realized that I am tired of my hands being so cold that they hurt, now that I'm riding the bus several times a day, every day, back and forth to campus then downtown then campus again. I know I should be working on Holiday gift knitting, but I am going to cast on some of the lovely yarn that Jill hand-dyed for me last year, and I am going to make myself some damn armwarmers. (The only pairs I have are two long pairs, lovingly made by my mother. They are both beautiful, and soft, and cozy, and SUUUUPPPPER LOOOONG. They work best in winter, when it's super super cold. I need something that fits in my pocket, something that matches everything I have, and something I took time out to make for ME.

So, stay tuned...
