Tightening the belt, paving the way for New York

I made two different things tonight, and I'm pretty proud of them! One was a wallet out of more of that fabulous lime green print, lined with the purple paisley I love so much. I also salvaged scraps from the tie I used for the handles of "Disco" for some of the credit card slots. The second thing I made was an odd change purse/wallet out of two intact pockets salvaged from two different blazers. I like the way it looks and feels, and it matches the "Plummy" bag. I will take pics tomorrow afternoon and post them. I am too tired to do so now, and I have to be at work in 6 hours.

We paid rent the other day and allowed our account to settle for days without using it. We have $22. Yes, that's right. $22. Until Friday. Thank god tomorrow is one of my larger tip days. As long as I can convince John to leave our bank account alone we'll be fine. I took his debit card away again, and am holding on to it indefinitely. That doesn't stop him from going to the bank to pull out money though, which he did over the last month to the tune of about $60, and right now that $60 is looking like a lot of money.

Things are really tight for us right now, mostly because of Bongo's cremation ($170) Dexter's adoption and medical bills (approx $300) and my business (oh my god please don't even ask me.) Businesses take start up capital, something I don't have lots of. I have most of the main things to start what I need, but there are incidentals. John's paycheck on Friday will be bills and then a huge chunk in savings. I am leaving for New York in 22 days, and I need some cooler clothes (temp wise cooler that is) and a bathing suit and OH YEAH a suitcase before I go. I may be able to borrow one from my Mom when we go see her this Sunday.

I am really starting to look forward to this trip. I am excited to see New York, and happy to be going with my two best friends and a built in tour guide. Kat says Jesse is great fun to travel with, and I know his enthusiasm for the places we will be is going to be infectious. This will be the first real vacation I've taken since I went to Hawaii in 2004 (?) with my family.

Ooh! That reminds me. I need to find the link again for where John and I want to go for our first anniversary. Between now and then I am going to ask my mom if she wants to fund us going away for a weekend since a)we never got a honeymooon and b) they never got us a present or really helped with anything when we got married. She will probably say "No" but it's worth a shot.

Ok. I need to go snuggle John before he is unwakable. Goodnight, peanuts.
